Since 1997, GDS (GlobalCom Data Services) has been Lebanon’s most innovative wireless and communications leader, and the nation’s largest private Data Carrier Operator. The GDS wireless infrastructure is completely independent of the Public Operator’s Network and relies on its own across-the-board telecommunication equipment.

Through its technologically advanced set-up, GDS successfully conquered Lebanon’s challenging geographical complexity to reach and serve every corner of the nation by providing a complete range of protocol-independent data telecommunication services from Kobayat in the north to Rmeich in the extreme south.

GDS operates a Broadband Wireless Network, and a DSL based Broadband access infrastructure, which was launched in 2007. GDS also launched its WiMAX service, enabling connectivity through wireless networks for fixed or nomadic use in urban, suburban, and rural areas.

GDS serves thousands of connections under Frame Relay, ATM, Clear Channel and IP + MPLS and X.25 protocols for banks and institutions such as public, financial, educational, and health. GDS also serves connections for commercial companies, service providers, and Broadband for residential users.

LICENSE
GDS is authorized to operate in accordance with the Council of Ministers’ license per Decree No 9288/October 5, 1996, which was superseded in April 2008 by a Government granted license through the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) for the implementation of the Telecom Act (Law 431).
